Changes to Constitution restrict individual economic rights/Cambios limitan libertades económicas individuales

The changes intended by President Hugo Chávez to article 112 in the Constitution entail the final transfer to the socialist economic model heralded by the government. Economic rights are established in the current Constitution, whereby Venezuelans may "engage in any economic activity of their preference, without further restrictions than the restrictions hereunder and under the laws, for reasons of human development, security, heath, environmental protection or any other reasons in the social interest."
