In its policy to “Unite the Caribbean by Air and Sea” the ACS recognised the need to address the dramatic situation of transport in the region which eventually led to the negotiation of the Air Transport Agreement (ATA) and to the implementation of projects to address the current situation of our maritime shipping infrastructure and other arrangements. It is important to note that, with the recent finalization of internal ratification requirements by Cuba and Venezuela, the ATA is one country away from coming into force ( full information)/ En su política de"Unir al Caribe por aire y mar" la AEC reconoció la necesidad de tratar la dramática situación del transporte en la región lo que condujo eventualmente a la negociación del Acuerdo de Transporte Aéreo (ATA) y la puesta en práctica de proyectos en para enfrentar la situación actual de nuestra infraestructura marítima de transporte y otros arreglos. Es importante observar que, con la reciente finalización de los requisitos internos para la ratificación por parte de Cuba y Venezuela, sólo falta un país para que ATA entre envigencia.
