President Hugo Chavez said Wednesday that since lawmakers have more than doubled the number of proposed changes to Venezuela’s 1999 constitution, voters should be able to vote on the proposals in blocks rather than in one big package when they go to the polls in a referendum set for December. The National Assembly, which is controlled by pro-Chavez parties thanks to an opposition boycott of the 2005 legislative elections, added 36 proposed amendments to the 33 submitted by the president to advance the “socialism of the 21st century.”( full information)/ Presidente Hugo Chavez dijo este miércoles que puesto que los legisladores han duplicado el número de cambios propuestos a la constitución 1999 de Venezuela, los votantes deben poder votar sobre las ofertas en varios bloques y no en un sólo paquete cuando vayan a las urnas en el referéndum fijado para diciembre.
