Venezuela to nationalize U.S.-owned bottle manufacturer/ Gobierno venezolano ratifica expropiación de vidriera estadounidense

Venezuelan Vice President Elias Jaua called on U.S. glassmaker Owens-Illinois Inc. to negotiate a “fair” compensation for the nationalization of the company’s local unit.The government will meet the company’s representatives in Venezuela in the next few hours to agree on a takeover strategy and evaluate the local unit’s worth, Jaua said today. “The government has always honored its payments in terms of fair and real prices to the owners of companies that have been nationalized,” Jaua said in comments carried on state television ( more...)/ El vicepresidente ejecutivo de Venezuela, Elías Jaua, aseguró hoy que la expropiación de la fábrica de envases de vidrio Owens-Illinois es irreversible y que no afectará la estabilidad laboral de los trabajadores de la empresa.
Jaua respondió así a un grupo de trabajadores de la planta, ubicada en Carabobo (centro norte), quienes protestaron este miércoles frente a la fábrica para rechazar la medida de estatización. ( más...)
