The Final Curtain?/¿Baja el Telón?

This Monday, the dictatorship that is hanging over Venezuela held two events: The curtain rises: Received from Aruba, the Final Report of the six-monthly meeting of the Inter-American Press Association, which condemns the Hugo Chávez administration for the “elimination” of the media in Venezuela. The IAPA also requests the OAS to allow the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the Office of the Special Rapporteur on Freedom of Expression visit Venezuela to verify the situation of human rights in the country, including freedom of information and free speech ( full information)/ Este lunes la dictadura que se cierne sobre Venezuela tuvo dos actos: Sube el telón: Se recibe el Informe Final de la reunión semestral de la Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa que llegó desde Aruba, condenando al Gobierno del presidente Hugo Chávez por sus acciones en contra de la libertad de expresión y a favor de la “eliminación” de los medios de comunicación social en Venezuela. La SIP, además, le solicitó a la OEA que permitiera que la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos y la Relatoría Especial para la Libertad de Expresión visiten a Venezuela a fin de constatar la situación de los derechos humanos en el país, entre ellos el de la libertad de información y de expresión ( información completa)
