Priorities Gone Awry/Prioridades Trastocadas

The doors of the country’s schools remained closed this Monday, September 20.The reason? The inopportune and arbitrary decision by the Ministry of Education following the orders of the National Electoral Council (CNE) to postpone the first day of classes for two weeks owing to the parliamentary elections to be held on September 26. This decision is even more arbitrary when account is taken of the fact that classes at the autonomous universities, many of which are not polling stations and do not come under the Ministry of Higher Education, have also been suspended( more...)/ Las puertas de los planteles educativos del país permanecieron cerradas este lunes 20 de septiembre. ¿El motivo? La decisión intempestiva y arbitraria del Ministerio de Educación, acatando órdenes del Consejo Nacional Electoral (CNE), de posponer por dos semanas el inicio de las clases debido a las elecciones parlamentarias del 26 de septiembre. Decisión esta que se hace más arbitraria aún cuando también se les suspende las clases a las universidades autónomas, muchas de las cuales no son centros de votación y no dependen del Ministerio de Educación Superior ( más...)
