It is common knowledge that Hugo Chávez is looking for ways to confiscate even the way Venezuelans are. Heading the long list of things he has managed to confiscate is Venezuelans’ historical memory, including the images and thoughts of the heroes of the Independence, not to mention the destruction of “inconvenient” monuments such as the statue of Christopher Columbus, the changes in the names of parks and buildings, and the strange – and as yet unexplained – exhumation of El Libertador’s remains ( more...)/ Es harto conocido que Hugo Chávez está buscando confiscar hasta la manera de ser del venezolano. Encabeza su larga lista de bienes confiscados, la memoria histórica de los venezolanos, incluyendo la imagen y pensamiento de sus próceres independentistas.
