Venezuela's Chavez To Seek $10.5B Additional Debt This Year/ Presidente pide Bs.F. 45 millardos para financiar nuevas misiones

Venezuela President Hugo Chavez said Tuesday he will petition the national legislature for an additional 45 billion bolivars, or about $10.5 billion, in debt this year to finance social programs, address a housing shortage and create jobs. The leftist leader said it was "urgent" to issue the bonds soon to collect the funds before the close of this year. Appearing on state television, Chavez added that he decided against ordering the new debt by decree in favor of placing the matter before parliament, which is controlled by the president's ruling party, because he considered "that to be correct."( more...)/ El Presidente reapareció. Hugo Chávez estuvo ayer en un Consejo de Ministros que transmitió VTV. Allí presentó una ley que según dijo, enviará hoy a la Asamblea Nacional para que la estudie. "Desistí de harcelo por vía Habilitante". Se trata de la Ley Especial de Endeudamiento Complementario. El primer mandatario pedirá más dinero. Será 45 mil millones de bolívares fuertes. Dijo que será para cubrir necesidades básicas. "No es por burocracia ni para despilfarro". Chávez indicó que pedirá que el Parlamento trate el texto que presentará "con carácter de urgencia".
