Cuban-Style Census in Venezuela?/ ¿Un Censo a la Cubana?

The vast majority of Venezuela’s population has an almost inborn distrust and fear of giving out personal information to people, particularly if they have anything to do with the Chávez administration. That distrust is not unwarranted. Many are suffering from the consequences of having signed the petition for a referendum on recalling President Chávez’s mandate. Fears become even more acute when the government has involved the Cuba controlled by the Castro dictators in everything having to do with citizens’ personal data, from every document that needs to be filed with a notary or registry to the country’s Identification System, including biometric passports and identity cards that are to be introduced shortly.
